Realistic Wildlife Art by Don Eberhart

Coyotes are prevalent in the Platte Valley, where I live. They can be seen and heard day or night. I take great pleasure in sitting on my deck at night and listening to melody- the river running by and the coyotes talking back and forth. Occasionally, a Great Horned Owl butts into the conversation. The only time I do not enjoy the 'yotes calling is when they decide to sit under my window at 2AM and run through the Top Ten Coyote favorites of all time. Along the river are groves of Balm Gilead Cottonwood trees and willow. This is ideal habitat for rabbits and small animals, and therefore, ideal hunting grounds for predators. Watching coyotes hunt these thickets was the inspiration for this painting. In the winter, I walk these snowy tree lines and study the tracks, as they reveal many stories of the wily coyote.
