Welcome to Realistic Wildlife Art by Don Eberhart.

This site offers the works of Don Eberhart. Don has been winning awards for his art for years, and he recently was corralled outside of his river side cabin long enough to agree to offer his work via the internet. The incredible realism of his work has spellbound most viewers, and you will be amazed at the detail. He lives in the Rocky Mountains along the South Platte River outside of Denver with a cat that adopted him.

Here is Don's background in his own word's:
"I graduated from Colorado Institute of Art and worked for 35 years as a commercial illustrator. I retired in 2003 so that I could concentrate on what I really wanted to paint- the animals and birds of Colorado's upper South Platte Valley Basin, the area in which I live. All of the wildlife subjects I paint are my neighbors. I have a speaking acquaintance with most of them and a deep feeling of respect for all, which I try to communicate through my painting. I watch and study animals and birds as they live. I get familiar with them and I feel their radiance. Then, I try my best to portray them for others to see and enjoy. I research all my paintings with photos and drawings. I take my research back to my studio and I create master drawings, and I follow them in creating the final painting. It can take up to 10 months to finish a piece, because I try to paint every hair, feather, and blade of grass. I work in a mixed media of gouache and acrylic. I also work in watercolor and scratch board."
